Bone Health
Ageing healthily means maintaining our skeleton for the long-term. There is lots we can do to stay strong. If you want to look after your bone health, book a dedicated consultation today.
Why?
1 in 2 women over 50 will experience an osteoporotic fracture. Steady bone loss begins around the time of menopause. In the US, all women 65 and over are offered a bone density scan. Women with specific risk factors can benefit from earlier intervention.
‘70% of people at high risk of fracture are never even assessed.’ Prof. Alex Comninos, consultant endocrinologist, Imperial College Healthcare
What does my consultation cover?
The consultation includes a detailed assessment of current risk using FRAXplus, advice on lifestyle and referral for DEXA scanning if recommended. We then discuss options for optimising bone health, encompassing diet, lifestyle and medical treatment.
